The fish was fresh, the portions were large, and the price was right. Very beautifully decorated as well. I had salmon sashimi my wife had the sixty nine roll. The soup was flavorful and the seaweed salad was large.

Bleck. The rice on all our sushi rolls was very undercooked which just made everything rather inedible. Maybe this was a fluke but I wouldn't give this place a second chance. A sushi restaurant that doesn't know how to cook rice is a bad sign in my book. Apart from the food being gross the atmosphere is pretty in your face with red walls and red light bulbs. If you're in a clubbing mood it might be good but for me it was a little overkill and made me a little anxious.

Ordered take out from here on my first visit and was very impressed. Sashimi combo was fresh and delicious, Volcano & Mary Jane rolls were great, 69 roll was perfect for kids (except the name I suppose), and Miso was great on a cold November evening. I know that sushi in the mountains sounds like a bad idea, but my expectations were definitely exceeded here.

Don't bother. Not worth the time or money. Staff wasn't particularly nice. Ambiance was fine and actually cool, but there are very few tables. The miso was literally Undrinkable. The excuse was to make it vegetarian, but I've made paper bag mixes that were better. Didn't get to the sushi as we decided another restaurant would be a smarter choice. I don't think they have to try at all, as they are the only sushi game in town. Id say, hold your craving and go Mexican or Pizza until you move to the next location. Too bad.

My family and I eat here every time we come up to our mountain home. They have been at 3 different locations in the last 3 years. We always get sushi for four. We enjoy the low lighting and ambiance. Our servers have always been pleasant. It's a bit pricey but it's sushi in the mountains. We love the rolls and their flair on a modern Japanese fusion. Sometimes it's really busy but off season we usually don't have a hard time getting in. We've met one of the owners who is always pleasant. The sakatinis are great @ the happy hour Buddha beer is my hubby's favorite.

Great service! Amazing rolls!!! Firecracker and multiple o's are awesome!!!! I've got some high standards for sushi too. This is great!

Great little find in Winter Park. Really fresh sushi with a huge selection. We will be coming back here during ski season! Would be a great spot for a romantic night out or just for dinner with the family after a day on the mountain.

Warm, trendy atmosphere with incredibly cool & friendly staff. Great happy hour & perfect place for dinner time. Choose off the menu or create your own! Either way you can't lose.

Really wanted to love this place. And the sushi was truly delicious and the decor was decent. But we showed up at 6:05 and there was no wait, which was encouraging since we brought our kids and plans afterwards, but then we had edamame only on our table for 55 minutes. We finally asked about our food, and then got attitude from newly everyone on staff. When we eventually did get it, over an hour after ordering, we had to scarf it down and get out of there. A disappointing way to enjoy sushi. We will eat our raw fish elsewhere and stick to Wither Park's other options.

The happy hour is great! Beer, shot, and a bite for $3. We also got mary jane roll, veggie tempura rolls, and the spicy salmon skin rolls, all were great. The bartender and the owner were such a delight! Although they were busy, they still made us feel appreciated. Sushi was surprisingly fresh!

Rudest waitress ever barley said a word I started reading reviews and had a bad feeling about the place I ordered miso soup which I took two spoonfuls of before realizing how salty it was when I asked the waitress if I could do the baked Alaskan unbaked she re iterated that it's supposed to be seared about 10 min of seeing the waitress once as she put some plates on the table as quickly as she could I decided that we weren't too hungry for sushi at this place I politely told the waitress to cancel our order which she responded to by getting an attitude and demanding for the money for the miso soup I explained to her that I only had a little and did not like it she asked why I didn't say something before and I explained that she did not come up to ask us. So don't go there that was the worst service I have ever gotten.

We will NEVER go back here. The food is okay but the service is beyond deplorable. I just tried to place a to-go order and was that they "couldn't do it." This coming from the same waitress that told my husband that she just "prefers not to serve locals over and over." Never Again.

This place is a great addition to Winter Park, they have a great happy hour. They are wonderful and the service is fantastic. We had a great time sitting at the sushi bar and chatting with the sushi chef. Always a must when in Winter Park.

Cute little place but seriously, they need to get some ventilation figured out. The place was filled with grease smoke from the fryer and we all left reeking of tempura for days. Also, I kid you not, the restaurant was incredibly uncomfortable, probably close to 80°. We told the waitress who didn't seem to notice, but we were not the only patrons to complain. The sushi was just ok, very heavily American style, but we ended up taking our food to go because we couldn't handle the heat. The wait was close to 1.5 hrs. The staff was friendly & accommodating. Miso was way too salty. We won't go back but the style of sushi may appeal to other diners. Also, we'll hope they fix the heat/venting issue...

7 of us went there on a Sunday night. We understand it is under new management since the beginning of summer. The food was plentiful and excellant. The waiter (Jeremie) was attentive without being obtrusive. Quality service. The owner came over to visit. Superior attention to detail on a busy summer night. We started with appetizers. Dynamite was our favorite followed closely by shrimp tempura that came with 3 sauces- 2 were mildly spicy. The crab cakes were delicious along with the gyoza. We also had spiked miso soup which was a treat as it contained chipolte sauce, shitaki mushrooms, etc to give it more body. We shared main courses of spicy salmon., baked Alaska, big kahuna cannonball, and lobster roll. All these rolls were fantastic. All were tastfully presented. We saved room and shared scrumptious Chocolate cake drizzled with rasberry sauce. The banana tempura included a large portion of ice cream. We waddled away saying this is the best spot in Winter Park.

First of all, why in the world did we think that sushi in colorado would be any good? The place was tiny and felt like a sauna. The calamari was over salted, the miso soup tasted like cat food, the shrimp tempura was completely over breaded, and the service was terrible. We had a large party of 13 and two people ordered the seared ahi tuna which came out completely cooked and tasted like chicken. Of course we sent it back. They had to wait quite some time before the cook learned the difference between the meaning of seared and fully cooked. The sushi was basically a ton of rice with tiny pieces of fish and was disgusting. For the price of $16 dollars a roll, this is a pathetic excuse for a sushi restaurant. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. The green tea ice cream is green vanilla ice cream that is rock hard. We got our checks and the "seared tuna" was on the check under full price. We asked to speak to a manager and surprise surprise, it's the cook. She said it was "not in her power" to take a discount off of the tuna. Considering they had to wait for their food while everyone else in our party had finished eating, I find this completely unacceptable. Not to mention she really needed some deodorant. Incompetent manager, poor service, inedible food, what more can I say?

If you are looking for fantastic sushi in a Colorado mountain town, your are clearly suffering from altitude sickness. But this spot does a nice job of bringing fresh fish and fresh ideas to the table. The presentation is nice and the rolls are large. I'd love to rate this place a little higher, but the service was pretty lack-luster. The waitstaff seems to be working another restaurant several blocks away as they all seem to disappear for long periods of time. And none of them seem to have the experience a decent waiter shows with some of the basic things - bringing water, ensuring you have utensils, etc. Our waitperson brought me the check before we had received all of our sushi. Not a big deal, but it added to the clunkyness of the meal. Hopefully with some experienced staff, they can make the food the most memorable part of the meal.

I'm not sure what it is about winter park, but the service at EVERY restaurant was awful. The food at the Sushi Bar was very good! And the rolls were huge and a great value. However, we walked in on a Saturday night, and waited for over 10 minutes at the door until the hostess (that was working her but off), said she'd be right over. At that point 3 other people that had previously walked by us and made eye contact but never said a word, finally acknowledged us. The waiter was nice, but the food took forever. And instead of him taking 3 seconds to let us know it was on its way or to check on us, the hostess came over. I hope she got tipped out huge! With the large party of loud housewives and the lack of caring service, the food made up for it. It's good, but i'm spending my hard earned money here, and i wish i'd be shown a little more appreciation.

Service was phenomenal with a fun atmosphere. The sushi takes amazing and very filling. Only suggestion/complaint is not having a huge selection of sushi. Overall great experience though!

Service was absolutely terrible. No kids choices either. I ordered sashimi at it took over an hour to come out. Kids meal took forever. Food was OK. Decent sushi for the mountains but just took too long for everything.

This is one of my favorite sushi places of all time, and I have been a frequenter of places like Nobu, 930 sushi, and other high end sushi restaurants throughout the Orange County/ Los Angeles area. I never expected the quality and service of sushi like I receive here consistently! Ask Dan to make you a special roll, and he will come up with something fabulous. Tanya is usually our server and she is absolutely amazing. The sake sushi is wonderful and the hot sake is fantastic as well! As far as signature rolls the Mary Jane is a go-to. A must visit in Winter Park!

This place has a horrible business plan. One 4 top at the front. They could have had 2 more 4 tops. The waiting area is bigger than the restaurant. Cut the waiting area in half or remove it entirely. You could put 10 tables in there. The food was great but the wait entirely uncalled for. They are in high rent space and they have to capitalize on the 2 wk Xmas period. Be prepared to wait.

LOVED IT. Say hi to Sushi Mike. Hook yourself up with the Happy Hour 2 for deal. Try the salmon skin too. I have nothing but good things to say about the place. Unfortunately I am drawing a blank on what exactly those good thing are..... Groovy decor. Delicious. Just do it.

My favorite place to eat dinner in all of Winter Park. The food is always fresh and excellent. I know that eating sushi in a landlocked state, and a remote town like this, may bring up some doubts but the food is always fresh and absolutely delicious. If you are not a sushi fan, that's ok, they have plenty of other Asian influenced food that is great. The service is great and they will always have a smile on their face. Some of my favorite rolls are the 69, 9:15, screaming o, ninja, and Mary Jane. No matter what you get, you'll be satisfied.

What a great dinner! We went early to take advantage of happy-hour specials, and boy was that a good move. By the time we left at 6:30pm, the line was out the door. We sat at the sushi bar and watched them working their magic. They weren't too chatty, focusing mainly on the task at hand ... making lots of scrumptious rolls that were part of today's HH special. All of the veggie rolls were good (especially the deep-fried veggie tempura roll!). Hubby reports that his spicy tuna was also good. The unfried veggie rolls were ok ... next time i'll double down on the tempura! :) The atmosphere is only so-so, felt more like a crowded bar than a sushi restaurant. And the service was a bit frazzled (we heard many complaints from the staff about how they were short-staffed). But the food made up for all that!

I lived in Winter Park from 2005-2009, and I recently moved back. The year in between I spent in Denver, and I failed (though not through lack of trying) to find a sushi restaurant in Denver that rivaled the Sushi Bar's mix of great sushi, excellent atmosphere, friendly staff and good prices. While sushi in any Colorado Mountain Town may not rival what you might find on the ocean on the West Coast, I have had many friends come to visit who have repeatedly said the Sushi Bar is better than anything they've found in their much larger cities. And their Happy Hour is second to none!

I had a great time here. I sat at the bar in front of the chefs. They were very helpful and friendly. This is the only place I've ever seen a roll wrapped in banana. It was really good. It wasn't busy when I went in with only 3 or 4 tables filled. I would recommend going as long as you're not expecting more than it is--a laid-back place with decent food.

The whole family decided to come here after the guy at the ski rental place recommended it and told us about the happy meal for adults. It was still early, so the place wasn't crowded yet... they had the 2 for 1 roll special so we ordered like 6 rolls. I love beef tataki, so I ordered that and ate the whole thing myself (so it was good). I really really like their salmon skin roll. The service was wonderful... the waitress was so nice and helpful. We all have a short attn span so we had to ask her repeat a few specials a couple times. So what's the happy meal?? It's something the locals know (well now you know)... It's 1 beer, 1 shot, & 1 piece of sushi (all chef's choice) for $3. The day we went... the beer was a bottle of Kirin and I forgot the rest. Definitely recommend this place for ppl... we'll probably be back (soon).

Just had dinner after a roadtrip from KC....in a word - great. Our server was delightful, and gave good drink recommendations. The sushi was wonderful. We are picky, and this really measured up.. the Mary Jane, Yum Yum and Multiple O's were our favorite rolls, but even the basic California was tasty. Worth the drive from the Zephyr Lodge. The only negative was a little smoky, but I come for the food.

We ate at this sushi bar during a vacation in Winter Park. The place is very small and they aren't able to serve food in the bar area, so our party of 5 ended up waiting at least an hour and a half for a table. After that wait, we were definitely hungry and expecting the food to make the wait worthwhile. I have to tell you - the food was worth the wait! We started with the spicy miso soup which was awesome! I typically don't like Miso, but the added kick to this was yummy. We also had some sashimi and a few other starters. Then, we ordered about 6 different rolls which was the perfect amount. Unfortunately, the menu on their website isn't working, so I can't remember which ones we ordered. But, I have to say, I definitely recommend you eat here and try out the menu for yourselves!

Although the rolls were generous in portion, paying $80 for a meal (we had miso soup (on the salty side), two rolls, two beers and a soda) was a bit on the steep side for what we got. The rolls (Yum Yum roll and the Cannonball) were ok flavor wise, but they fell apart when picked up, indicating that the sushi maker needed to work on his/her rolling technique. The atmosphere was okay, although I suspect their air conditioner was not functioning: there were floor fans throughout the restaurant and it was stuffy inside. The service, however, was pretty good, so kudos to the wait staff for their work.

Me and my girlfriend were waiting at the door when they opened Saturday night. There was also 3 other couples or families waiting with us. We placed our order by 5:10 and did not receive our food until 6:00. Although the food was amazing the wait time was unacceptable. Food - 5 stars | Delicious food!!! Service - 1.5 stars | For refilling our water once

Good: Our server was excellent. The Salmon sashimi was quite good. Bad: I really almost never dislike a restaurant. The staff were kind of strange (not mean or really rude, just very odd). The place is so dark, there was not a single Japanese employee, and all of this on top of being a place in the middle of the Rockies where you are going to consume raw fish. As for the food, I had the Seaweed Salad and Salmon Sashimi. The Salmon was quite good. The Salad made me violently ill (details not included). My friends ALL disliked their miso soup. I also did not care for my Saketini, but that could be a personal preference. I can't recommend going here, but others seem to love it, so maybe we just were not feeling it that night.

  • Bill N.

The sushi was great & reasonably priced. Alcohol was a bit expensive, but it's a mountain town. My only complaint is that the building is cold and drafty. Since eating sushi doesn't really "warm you up," it feels even colder.

  • Paul M.

Great place. We went in during the blues fest and had a Happy Meal (a beer, a shot, and a piece of sushi for $3.00) and 2 rolls. The staff is super friendly, and the quality of the food was outstanding. This is a regular stop for us every time we go to Winter Park.

We had an excellent dinner at the Sushi Bar. Be sure to try the appetizors and especially the one called "Dynemite". The rolls were all good. Say hello to Shelby while there as she is bringing new life to an excellent restaurant. Save room for dessert, you won't be sorry. Also attend the special nights. The casino night was awesome with everyone having a great time and all were decked out in blitz.

A great happy hour makes this place a good spot for some high country sushi. I hear they pull all of the fish straight out of an ocean or stream or something, then cart it hundreds of miles before serving. Still, it's not bad for a mountain town sushi joint. Only note is that I ordered spicy salmon rolls and it was served with cooked salmon. Huh.

  • Renee Q.

We visited here early December, before the season really started. There were maybe 3 tables occupied. We ordered ONE roll. After 35 minutes of waiting, I asked if we could just pay for the drinks and go. The server said he was working on it right now, did we want it to go? We waited another 15 minutes and got it boxed. Waited over 45 minutes for one roll and on our way out the door the server says, "sorry we couldn't make that for you faster." Really?

Great atmosphere for a small town and the service was good. Up beat wait staff and the sushi was great. We are not in Miami or Dallas so dont expect superior sushi, but given a small town and their for winter sports I give them 5 stars. Also its in a nice plaza so it makes for a nice date dinner, party location for friend dinner or just want to see the shops and enjoy the ice skating there. Added plus is the parking garage is all free! :)

The Mygatts love this place. We are Sushi Den regulars, but this place rocks. Our favorites are the 9:15 Roll, spicy miso and Raging edam. Jeremie was attentive and helpful. Love the new location and decor!!!

  • Melora W.

I would have given this restaurant 3 stars had it not been for our final sushi roll. Do NOT order the Baked Alaska roll; it tasted like bland tuna casserole with tartar sauce on top. Eeeeuuuuuuuggghhh. The service was marginal, but our other rolls were pretty good (spider, spicy tuna, Omega 3), and the spicy edamame was good (but a bit too oily). Unfortunately, the last roll was bad (and pricey!) and literally left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

  • Denton M.

Wasn't impressed with the sushi here at all. There aren't that many choices and the rolls lack creativity. I know it's sushi in the mountains but when I lived in wp several years back I remember sushi being amazing, something I bragged about to friends. That's when it was in a stand alone building across the street. Not sure if this is the same place and moved or not. The service was good up until the end. After the mediocre sushi we ordered dessert. We ordered the mochi. As the server dropped the dessert she mentioned it was frozen. We had the fist of three pieces and it was good. The next piece was so frozen I couldn't cut it with a steak knife. I ask the server if we could order a different dessert. She didn't seem to be happy about this but complied. While dropping the bill she told us that she charged us for the one piece of mochi we had eaten. $2. I found that annoying after spending over $100 on dinner that wasn't great and having the awkwardness of having to ask for something else even when the server knew that she was serving a subpar dessert.

I think I'm gonna be sick after eating here. Blegh. If the Forrest Gump soundtrack doesn't bother you, the decor, and then the food, will certainly induce your gag reflex. It's bad. It's all bad. This sex-themed sushi place SHOULD be sexy. Catchy roll names, red lights, but sadly it all falls short. What did I expect for a sushi place in the valley? Well, fresh fish for one. Oh, did I mention it's extremely overpriced? $80 for two people, and I seriously want to barf up my meal so I can eat somewhere else tonight. One redeeming quality are the saketinis. Pretty nice. Go here for drinks, and then go eat elsewhere.

Love this place, super creative sushi rolls, great atmosphere and service. Definately not your Grandmother's sushi bar!! Try the Multiple O's roll, topped with broiled eel, mango and tobiko. Can't stop thinking about it!!

I came to this restaurant after seeing the wonderful reviews on yelp. I was unbelievably disappointed. If you know your sushi, don't go here. Otherwise, ignorance is bliss. The fish was not fresh or good quality. The restaurant reeked of oil from the tempura. The sushi was not traditional (for example, 75 percent of the rolls included cream cheese as an ingredient), but their attempt at fusion food failed. In the end, we were so hungry that we had to go somewhere else to get enough to eat.

  • Carlie M.

Happy hour was recommended by a local, the specials are nothing special to say the least, food or drink. Also, my rolls arrived with a long dark hair suspended between the two, gross. Do not recommend this place. Stick to sushi near a place that fish actually live.
